Upgrading and backups

KALLH updates its database itself when it starts, so upgrading is pulling the new version and restarting:

Terminal window
docker compose pull
docker compose up -d

Releases are listed on GitHub. To stay on one version, use its tag instead of latest in docker-compose.yml, e.g. ghcr.io/kallhq/kallh:1.2.

Everything the club has (members, bookings, pages, uploaded images and documents) is in its Postgres database, so a backup is a database dump:

Terminal window
docker compose exec db pg_dump -U kallh kallh > kallh-$(date +%F).sql

Keep copies somewhere other than the server. To restore, stop KALLH, restore into a fresh database, then start it again:

Terminal window
docker compose stop app
docker compose exec db dropdb -U kallh kallh
docker compose exec db createdb -U kallh kallh
docker compose exec -T db psql -U kallh kallh < kallh-2026-10-30.sql
docker compose start app
